Photos of the Torre del Oro, Seville
A visual tour of the monument from the riverbank, across the bridge in Triana, and up on the open-air rooftop terrace.
The Torre del Oro is arguably the most photographed building in Seville after the Giralda, and with good reason: its riverside position allows photographers to capture vibrant reflections at any time of day. This gallery showcases the tower from the promenade, from the water, and at sunset, with the city and Triana Bridge in the background.

The best spots to photograph the Torre del Oro
1. The Triana riverbank (Calle Betis)
This is the classic postcard view. From the Paseo de Nuestra Señora de la O and along Calle Betis on the opposite riverbank, you can capture the entire tower reflected in the water. At sunset, the golden sun is behind you, illuminating the tower's river façade directly. If you take only one photograph in Seville, take it here.
2. The San Telmo Bridge
Looking north from the bridge gives an elevated angle that neatly frames the tower with the broad river in the foreground and the Triana Bridge behind it. It works particularly well in horizontal landscape orientation.
3. Paseo de Cristóbal Colón (at the base)
Standing directly at the base of the tower looking up highlights the structural contrast of its three superposed tiers and the raw texture of the Almohad masonry. This is the top angle for architectural details.
4. From a river cruise boat
Boat excursions departing from the pier pass right in front of the monument. This provides the view the Almohad architects originally designed the tower for: seen from a ship on the water.
5. Framed by riverside palm trees
The trees lining Paseo de Cristóbal Colón allow you to compose creative shots framed by palm fronds, which look striking backlit by the late afternoon sun.
What is the best time of day for photos?
- Sunset from Triana: The golden hour, with the western light reflecting off the monument. Unquestionably the best combination.
- Early morning from Paseo de Colón: Empty streets and glassy, undisturbed river water create the clearest mirror reflections.
- Nighttime: When the exterior floodlighting turns on, the yellow illumination reflected on the dark water produces dramatic long-exposure shots.
- Avoid midday: Harsh overhead sun flattens the relief of the stone carvings and blows out highlights.
Can you take photos inside the monument?
Yes. Non-commercial photography is allowed inside the Naval Museum exhibition rooms and on the rooftop terrace, provided you do not use flash or tripods. Gallery lighting is atmospheric and soft, so higher ISO settings are recommended.
Please do not stop to take photos on the narrow spiral staircase, as this is a single, two-way flight of stairs and stopping quickly causes congestion.
