The most scenic walking route

If you are coming from Seville Cathedral, avoid the busy avenue. Instead, walk down Calle Almirantazgo to the historic Postigo del Aceite gate, meander through the atmospheric streets of the Arenal district, and emerge onto the riverfront at Paseo de Colón. It takes just two minutes longer and is far more scenic.

By Metro

The nearest metro stop is Puerta de Jerez on Line 1 (the sole metro line currently operating in Seville). From the station exit, the tower is just 400 metres away—a flat 5-minute stroll north along Paseo de Cristóbal Colón.

Line 1 connects residential outer districts (such as Mairena del Aljarafe and Montequinto) directly through the city centre. If your hotel is located outside the historic core, the metro is the fastest transit option.

By City Bus (TUSSAM)

Several TUSSAM city bus lines stop directly in front of or near the tower:

  • Lines C3 and C4: Circular routes encircling the historic centre. The Paseo de Cristóbal Colón stop is right opposite the tower.
  • Line C5: A small electric minibus winding through the narrow lanes of the old town.
  • Line 3: Connects northern Seville along the riverfront corridor directly to Paseo Colón.
  • Lines 40 and 41: Terminate at nearby Puerta de Jerez, 5 minutes on foot from the monument.

Bus routes can adjust during cultural festivals and holidays. Check the official TUSSAM website or transit apps for real-time stop updates.

From Santa Justa Train Station

If you arrive in Seville on the high-speed AVE train, you have three practical travel options:

  • Walking: Approximately 2.8 km (1.7 miles), taking 33 to 38 minutes. A straightforward walk if you have light luggage.
  • By bus: Take city bus line C1 or line 32 from outside the station toward the centre, followed by a short walk (around 30 minutes total).
  • By taxi: 8 to 12 minutes depending on traffic. This is the most comfortable choice with heavy bags.

Note that Metro Line 1 does not connect directly to Santa Justa station.

From Seville Airport (San Pablo)

Seville Airport is situated roughly 10 kilometres (6 miles) east of the city centre.

  • Airport Express Bus (Línea EA): The most economical route. It connects the airport terminal to central Seville and has an official stop right on Paseo de Colón near the Torre del Oro. Transit time is roughly 35 minutes.
  • Official Taxi: Fixed airport flat rate into central Seville, taking between 20 and 30 minutes depending on traffic.

Where to park (by car)

The Torre del Oro has no dedicated parking facilities. The surrounding Arenal and riverfront district is strictly controlled, mostly pedestrianised, and subject to residential traffic restrictions. Driving directly to the tower is strongly discouraged.

If arriving by car, use one of the nearby underground public parking garages:

  • Aparcamiento Paseo Colón: Located directly underneath Paseo de Cristóbal Colón, a 3-minute walk from the tower.
  • Aparcamiento Puerta de Jerez: Situated 400 metres away near the metro station.
  • Aparcamiento Plaza de la Concordia: A slightly further walk through the shopping district.
Driving tip If you visit Seville by rental car, park it in an underground garage or park-and-ride facility on arrival and explore the historic centre on foot. Central Seville was built long before cars, and the Torre del Oro is best experienced as part of a pedestrian stroll.

By Bicycle (Sevici)

Seville boasts one of Europe’s finest protected cycle path networks. A wide, segregated bike lane runs directly alongside the Guadalquivir riverbank right in front of the tower.

The municipal bike-sharing system, Sevici, has docking stations directly on Paseo de Cristóbal Colón and at Puerta de Jerez. Cycling from Triana or María Luisa Park along the river is a delightful way to arrive.

What is nearby?

Because of its riverfront location, you can easily combine your visit with other sights within a 10-minute walk:

  • Maestranza Bullring: 5-minute walk north along Paseo Colón.
  • Maestranza Opera Theatre: 3-minute walk inland.
  • Hospital de la Caridad: 4-minute walk, featuring masterpieces by Murillo and Valdés Leal.
  • Royal Alcázar: 7-minute walk through Puerta de Jerez.
  • Seville Cathedral & Giralda: 9-minute walk through the Arenal.
  • Triana Quarter: 12-minute walk crossing the historic Isabel II Bridge.
